+1 on not removing anything. You shouldnt need to. I have a very similar blower on mine and it is big, heavy, and awkward to get on and off - and I dont have some big monster tractor to help me lift it!

For routine maintenance, check the manual. You can change hydraulic fluid in the rear end/hydro, and check blower belt, a fuel filter (if it has one and maybe install one if it doesnt), change the oil. You could load the tires to give it more weight (am assuming you have chains on it for snow duty).

Those are some basic items, dont require huge amounts of mechanical aptitude, and will get you ready for winter.

Before winter hits I want to take the cab and snowblower off to get more familiar with it (I am not the most mechanically inclined person but I am learning).

It appears I need to undo the hydraulic pole, loosen the tension of the belt pulley, and then it is just 2 bolts.

Any tips/tricks for removing the 451 snowblower?

Thank you everyone for the insight and reference material. Much appreciated. There is a strong consensus to just leave it alone. I trust all your experience so I am not messing with the cab or the blower

I am in the northern lower. Where about are you?

The only picture I have at the moment is below. I did a couple things so far, I replaced the skids with some new ones that are better on gravel drives. Fixed the wiring so the heater now works. And scoured the web to find a replacement cab light lens, bought it, and snapped it on.

This is the only picture I have so far and has the old blower skids. The wife loves taking pictures so I am sure to have more soon.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
