bugeye,
i appreciate the input, I doubt that the fluid has ever been changed in it, this thing is like a tank, it just keeps working till this past week.

I have the Service Manual and the Owner's Manual for the 1811, but input from long time owner's experience is not always covered in a manual and is a great help.

I'm adding everyone's input into a page to attach into the service manual

I doubt that the fluid ever been changed. I have the gasket and filter. I have to get Hytran.

Default 1811 Hydro issues

Again, thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge and experience.

Apologies for this lste entry, but I thought i should post the actual fix on my 1811 issue (no max speed, transmission vibration and noise when moving hydro control forward.)

I did change the filter and fluid.

BUT the real culprit was the front flex coupling was missing a good amount of material (read as chewed on by a rodent) which caused the need to replace the Self-Aligning Ball Bushing (PN 941-3004)

Dad's 1811 runs like a dream again.

Thanks for the update.
I'm working on a 1210 and a 582 right now. both are getting new flex couplers and ball bushings. I'm making a new driveshaft for the 1210 and once the 582 is apart I will know if I need to make one for it also.

I would check the driveline first for any issues. You could have a sheared pin causing your problem. Make sure there is no slop in the shaft at all. If it does it's probably wore out. As Roland said you should use Hytran. I would get 2 gallon jugs of Hytran, a new filter (Cub part# 923-3014) and a rear cover gasket(Cub part# 921-3015).

Pull the rear cover slowly to drain it and inspect the inside. Spray it out good with brake cleaner and let it dry good. Be careful not to use any type of rag and leave any lint behind. Then install the new gasket, filter and oil.

The 1811 is the best GT built by Cub Cadet IMHO.
Best engine, slightly downgraded rear end (not a problem if you get the proper 3 point instead of a sleeve hitch).
