bugeye,
i appreciate the input, I doubt that the fluid has ever been changed in it, this thing is like a tank, it just keeps working till this past week. I have the Service Manual and the Owner's Manual for the 1811, but input from long time owner's experience is not always covered in a manual and is a great help. I'm adding everyone's input into a page to attach into the service manual thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge! |

ol'George,
glad I could put a smile on your face. Let's keep that just on OCC, in some states that could be illegal |

I'll take that under advisement, and duly noted.
No more humor or assimilating livestock terms, got it! Good luck with your "service" procedure. |

1811 Hydro issues
Again, thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge and experience.
Apologies for this lste entry, but I thought i should post the actual fix on my 1811 issue (no max speed, transmission vibration and noise when moving hydro control forward.) I did change the filter and fluid. BUT the real culprit was the front flex coupling was missing a good amount of material (read as chewed on by a rodent) which caused the need to replace the Self-Aligning Ball Bushing (PN 941-3004) Dad's 1811 runs like a dream again. |

Thanks for the update.
I'm working on a 1210 and a 582 right now. both are getting new flex couplers and ball bushings. I'm making a new driveshaft for the 1210 and once the 582 is apart I will know if I need to make one for it also. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
