I Would do it as long as it's no more than $200 as Sam mentioned which if the guy won't budge then I guess no. Some issues look to be big stack which may or may not have wallered out the exhaust threads in the block, Pto will cost some, seat, and possible fiberglass damage as hood looks to sit lower than it should. 12 horse gear drives are cool and as mentioned, on the rare list #3. But ultimately your $$ your decision

S/G belt is off and there is a fire extinguisher at the ready on the red tractor.
Bet he was attempting to get the pto off to repair and gave up. Maybe he was using a gas wrench on it? Unless you agree to a different price before going to look at it, he will stick with the 300. Since you drove 2 hundred miles. |

Thanks for the advice that's what I like about this site. It makes one think before acting. Owner sent me some pics and from those I decided maybe worth $175 to $200 to me. I relayed that to him and he was $300 firm. I told him nice to talk to him and have a good day.

I'm with you. $300 isn't a "Lew" price, but it's not bad even if the motor is junk. I've paid more for bad engine tractors..... but I wanted them.

Likewise, if it is something that I really want, that price isn't bad at all and if I am set on my price, then I politely say, "May I leave my number with you just in case?". Worst he can say is, "No."

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
