I would much rather take my chances with rebuilding an OEM Kohler carb even if I have a few more dollars into it at the end of the day than to use a Chinese reproduction carb e even for free.

I bought the Chinese brand whil I rebuild the 26. I’m almost done and plan on putting it back in! Turning the wrong screws can be a problem and I’m
Now back up and running after turning the correct screws!
Only issue is backing down the idle is not going down below about 4 combustion cycles per second. That too fast? Thanks for all the great responses.
Just bought some rear wheels and tires for $70. I’m happy!

4 combustion cycles per second means 16 revolutions per second which means 960 RPM. Idle RPM should be generally between 1,000 and 1,300 I believe. So you're in the ballpark if 4 combustion cycles per second is the actual number.

Seems like it’s hitting about 4 puffs per second. So I am assuming that your number 960 is is correct? I’m new to engine mechanics but learning thanks to this site!

Pretty sure your math is way off.

Ah you're right. Long week. Engine fires every 720 degrees of shaft rotation.
Should be 8 RPS, or 480 RPM if it's hitting 4 times per second.

Good news everybody and to those who say rebuild
Carter 26, I’m with you! I was with you and had planned to
Rebuild it all along. Got tired of the Chinese carb running like
Garbage so I swapped them out this afternoon and put the carter
26 back in that I made a throttle shaft bushing for and replaced parts on.
Loaded it in and tractor runs with choke completely off and runs
Smoother than Tennessee whiskey!
Thanks all for the advice and ideas!
I thought I would add some tractor porn.
I built a frame and shaft for the lift sleeve and
Use same parts to convert it over to a platform
To put weight on for plowing snow and it works great.
I had this big old metal toolbox that I bolted to lift frame and then connected
It independent of lift shaft and to the pin for the lift sleeve receiver which is under seat to make it a rigid platform independent of lift arm so I can work the blade with weight. I like how it is working so far.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
