Using a rubber tipped fitting, he would then lube the bearing, run the machine a couple minutes, then lube each bearing again. He would then seal the hole with some silicone caulk,, The rate of bearing failures during the harvest season fell to almost zero. Every other neighbor was "running for parts" and we were harvesting. After their harvest was over, my nephew took up the hobby of custom harvesting for the neighbors that were broke down,, He asked for cash, and fuel,, and made a nice pile of "pocket money" !! |

Each time I have a permanently sealed bearing off,, I lay it on its side, and pour a little Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil on the bearing. given some time, the oil will get past the seal, and the bearing will be freshly lubed. I have never had a bearing fail that has been lubed with synthetic gear oil,,, |

I use a needle grease tool
https://www.google.com/search?q=need...hrome&ie=UTF-8 You can slide it under the seal lip, give the bearing a couple shots of grease and it's let the good times roll.

Good news and bad news.... put new mule pulley assembly on, along with new belt. Aligned mower deck to service manual specs and it cut great... better than ever!!!
BUT it bogged twice in heavy grass (grass grew a lot due to waiting so long for parts). After the second bog, the engine decided to change....I'll start new post. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
