ol 'George is from the era when anything "Push Button" was ultra modern, nearly space age and considered the height of luxury and convenience.
Remember the push button shifting on Studebaker and a couple others? Early '60's Dodge too I think? |

I could derail the thread of shift levers like the Edsel push buttons in the center of the steering wheel or Plymouth on the dash in '55, and later on left hand side of the dash for the torque flight using push buttons.
Or the old reliable 4 speed hydramatic of the 50's using a shifter with a different pattern before the universal PRNDL was adopted. it's all history. Yes I was around for the first satellite launch sputnik, and the dog "liaka" and telstar1 and Vietnam and the cuban missile crisis and Woodstock, And the moon launch all in all, not a bad time to be young. I sold gasoline during Hi skool for $.15 a gallon while getting paid $.85 an hour. My first job @ Ben franklin, I was paid $.65 an hour. Air was dirty, sex was clean, men were men and woman liked it that way. I'm going back as soon as my flux capacitator arrives on the Railway express truck Now back to watching Gene Autrey & Hopalong Cassidy. |

Yes I can remember the "gas wars" 18 cents a gallon down to 15 cents, picking up "Old Gold" cigarettes for my dad they had two pennies attached inside the cellophane on the package.

Another reason why to stick with push button valves. If the valves on your tractor are originally push buttons and you needed to replace ONE, it make sense to replace the one with the same.. Otherwise, you'd need to modify the flapper to get around the automatic.
I don't miss the days of mechanical typewriters and mechanical push button switches and whatever.... Electronics and relays are nice! Easy on the fingers.

Yep, any kid who could put in a quarter and pull the knob, could purchase smokes with 2 cents for penny candy. Good old days. |

There was a gas station I could stop at, on my way to junior high school, and buy a pack of camels for 25cents. ( born in 1948)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
