The electric PTO will not 'clear up room in the front' for a PS pump, as it would take up essentially the same amount of room that the mechanical clutch does. It doesn't matter anyway, because you can't use an electric clutch on an engine with a starter/generator. You can run a PS pump off the small pulley on the flywheel end of the screen; not only is this how it was done from the factory, it is also how several members here have accomplished the same thing. It will also be better for your hydraulic system if the pump is not mounted near the hottest part of the engine.
You don't need 14 or even 12 hp for a hydraulic pump. 10 will be plenty, and a 10 hp K241 will fit with no modifications. |

Thank you for clearing that up. I couldn't find any info on swapping the pto so I couldn't cross measurements up to see if there would be room or not. One thing I can mark off the list.
I thought I read the 12 will fit with no mods. If I'm gonna look for a engine I might as well try to find a 12 unless there are problems else where. Then again you talking to a hardhead that likes to build a drive v8 powered s10s. I will keep the 10 in mind if I can find one in good shape cheap enough but would still like to learn about all swaps. |

Both the 10 and 12 will fit with no mods, provided they are set up for a starter/generator and came out of a Cub Cadet.

Right now I have the word out I'm looking for all narrow frame cub stuff. Hopefully some good stuff comes my way, like any search will have to wade all the useless and wrong stuff.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
