if the rear belt driven pto was used, just turned 90 degrees so that the output was facing the rear, you could use a snowthrower driveshaft. I belive the shaft used on the mower in the picture was custom made. but as I was saying using full sized PTO driveline parts with and adapter for the cub PTO output it would save having to fabricate a shaft. hmmm, starting to think I should get the welder out and put pen to paper so to speak.

Here is the deck to use, it is set up for shaft drive already!!
It is off an Ariens GT-18. The shaft is facing forward. Who is adventurous!! Heck, bring me a box of donuts, and I will give you the deck!! |

Your Dad is one very talented craftsman. That is beyond cool. Love to see more of it when you get the chance, especially the rear PTO. Looks like you were having fun with it.

does anyone think you could use the factory rear lift? it would be like a sleeve hitch adapter mounted to the deck. use an extended pin on the lift casting and use chains to pick the deck. I know the arc of the pivot would be kinda extreme, but not much more than a 5ft with a 3pt. the next issue is making the cut height adjustable and getting the whole thing to float.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
