Very cool idea, I will have to give this a try as well. Might make a disk kinda like a stump jumper on a bush hog and attach 4 to it. Being round it would have even less impact when hitting the ground. Also could make the lines a bit shorter. Is the line precut to length or come in roles like a regular weed eater?

now if only you could make a front attach deck that flips up and makes it easier to change the string. Also, how does the outer nut stay on the string?

I'd love to see a photo of the freshly cut back lot. I've got the same situation and using an old 44a mower with the trimmer string would be a great option.

Welding up my version of this tonight. Wondering if the distance between the nuts is critical as well as the length of the string in operations. Won't have pics up until next week. But hope to have this up on a 44A and mowed down a blade or two of grass on a couple acres. If this works well I have a rusty deck that was meant for just this. Open up the front of the deck and go...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
