So, with everything setup mechanically as suggested, I have plenty of travel up and will have down pressure too. No risk of rod breakage, no loss of ground clearance. footrest still fits in stock location, but I am putting it outward another 1/4" to give room for a guard there. I have a bad pinch point at the toe end with the lift linkage for the plow. I have grown fond of my toes.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge! It may have worked, or I may have needed to go looking for another cylinder. Who knows? I don't, but definitely feel more confident in the success of this project.

That looks much better. Is the piece connected to the cylinder rod and lift rod going to be attached to the rock shaft so that it operates a 3-point hitch?

I might do that later. now, it is time to get fittings and hoses and get the plumbing done, and a lever.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
