Hi Steve! Welcome. As another QL fan, further issues with one this old are worn engine cradles, particularly the large holes where the factory ISO mounts go through. In my experienced opinion, the engine oil pan also takes a beating by now being aluminum. Here, its common to find stripped bolt hole threads. As not all aluminum oil pans are going to be in bad condition, I was once given good advice by finding a deep-sump cast iron pan to replace the factory pan with. With respect to the age and use of the garden tractor, other areas of concern will be normal wear parts and components.

It all comes down to seeing and hearing the 1250 run, and operate as well as taking note whether the engine pto works. With out that, the seller price seems too high. He could part it out and still get a $100 -$150 just on the rear lift, and still have $60 in scrap for the rest of the tractor.

I have been picking away at my 1450. The Quiet Line is a great garden tractor!

Thanks John ! Good info.

Alvy, I'm very close to The Villages, between Ocala and Leesburg but out in the country, thank God !!

Thank you ALL for your help and info, I feel this helped keep me from making a mistake.

I've decided now to completely finish the restoration on my 3206 first, not too much left to do on it and love it. Then I'll find another strong CC. (of course I'm still gonna keep a look out for a deal)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
