Bearings like the one pictured in post #2 are like OEM and will have to be packed and adjusted once installed as well and are meant to be serviced periodically.
This is the 1st thing you should do when you buy an old Cub w/unknown history, for many of which will likely will have been a life of abuse and neglect. Just give the steering wheel a bit of a turn each way, and observe closely what happens BEFORE you reach for your wallet and this will become readily apparent. Many so called "restored" tractors, sadly, will also fall into this category.
