Minion has them for around $21 for the good ones. Still too much for what they are.

Bearings like the one pictured in post #2 are like OEM and will have to be packed and adjusted once installed as well and are meant to be serviced periodically.

This is the 1st thing you should do when you buy an old Cub w/unknown history, for many of which will likely will have been a life of abuse and neglect.

Just give the steering wheel a bit of a turn each way, and observe closely what happens BEFORE you reach for your wallet and this will become readily apparent.

Many so called "restored" tractors, sadly, will also fall into this category.

It was actually cheaper to get them on eBay from Minion than NAPA, even after my "discount".
Comes up as $22 on my Napa, no discount or anything.

Question

Are the NAPA bearings a Chinese product, or USA like MTD is selling?

Just ordered a set so I'll let ya know.

Came up as $22.00 each at the Oxford, PA store. (closest to my house)
Or they were $24.50 at the Newark, DE store. (by my workplace)

So pricing must be some type of state/regional thing even those these store are pretty close together.

Who lives in the south and wants to distribute them?

I can't imagine this hobby lasting much longer if parts prices double again in the next decade.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
