Enjoy!
Easy fix for that problem is to drill and tap the top of the transmission case for a vent. 1/8" hose adapter, some fuel line and an in line fuel filter.

I am curious about the block heater as well. I guess Kubota has one that goes in the head? Just have to cut a hole in the fan support plate. But for $50.00 bucks, it might be worth a try?

block heater does help but the biggest thing you can do is change the starter... i tried the glo plug mod and then the block heater... glo plug mod didnt seem to make any if much difference. the block heater did help after plugged in for 1/2 to 1 hour would start much better but would still need battery help. changed out the starter and it starts like a champ. cranks like a banshee. dont start immediatly need to cycle glo plugs a few times but it starts. has only been in the 30s mostly here lately so i havent tried the block heater also. trust someone who couldnt concieve that that starter would make that much difference i finally put it in and wish i had done it 3 years ago. was begining to dislike the tractor at 65 degrees it was a pain to start

The 1512's looking good! On all my diesels, first thing I do is change all fluids/filters, pull the fender pan/tank, flush the tank, and replace all fuel lines, grommets, and fuel shutoff. You'll be suprised how hard those fuel lines are. Then go over the driveline replacing worn parts, rag joints, bushings. Mine were pretty dirty as well under the tank. I'm with Dave, these diesels are nice little tractors. Good luck and keep the pics coming. Fair warning, once you have one smoker, you'll want another...............

That is a pre Cyclops setup, radiator is on the wrong end for a Cyclops. That said D600 unless it came out of a 1772 then it would be a D640

Since you have your fuel tank out of your machine, is there any way you could get me some basic dimensions? I'm thinking of trying to find a generic tank for my machine to mount in the same spot. Thanks!

Hey, all - thanks for the replies and suggestions. Between family activities and the weather, I still have not been able to turn the power washer on the tractor yet. I'm hoping to get everything cleaned up by the end of this work week. In the meantime, I'll order those bungs (thanks, Todd) and get the necessary fuel lines (one bung was 'weeping' already). Yes, the lines are hard and inflexible as you would expect after 30 years. The only dumb question is the one not asked, so can I use regular rubber fuel line, or do I need something specific for diesel fuel? I'm still on the fence about the block heater. I don't know how often I'll want to use the diesel in the dead of winter, since I have the master of snow removal already in the 2084 with the 551 blower. I have a 450 blower and a blade that I can use on the diesel, and as long as I act ahead of time, I can always get the diesel into the garage before or during a storm and be able to use the turbo shop heater in extreme cold situations. The new starter is going to be the biggest help, but the addition of the block heater is appealing as an 'option' and it'll never be easier to install than while the motor is out and on a stand.

SamMac, the vent/fill tube looks appealing as well, I'll look for one of your past posts to cover it in more detail (not that there's much to it anyway). It certainly looks like a better option than I.V. feeding 7 or 8 quarts through the dipstick tube.

And I'll post pics of the driveshaft adapter today or tomorrow, as I think there's definitely hardware to be replaced there, and any help with part #s will be very helpful.

Thanks again, guys. Keep the input and suggestions coming! This 1512 is definitely a long-term keeper!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
