Default Front end weight

I use 8-42lb weights on the front of my Green 332 when I till with my yellow model 48 tiller. The yellow 48" model 48 tiller weighs around 450lbs. I can move it around using 4-42lbs on the front, but the other 4 are needed when tilling to keep the front end planted at all times. The 445 does indeed have a 540 rpm pto. I also believe the 540 pto turns in the opposite direction from the 2000 pto. The previous owner of my model 48 used it on a kubota, whose pto also rotated in the wrong direction. Luckily he did not use it much. Virtually no wear on the wrong sides of the tines. These heavy tillers can really make a nice seed bed in a hurry.

How does it do with new gardens? Tilling through a grass yard...

Also, did you have to change the pto shafts? The 540 and 2k use different shafts correct?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
