A Mate of mine once complained about the very rough ride on his ride-on , asked about tyre pressures and he was running 25psi all round , go figure

The 782D has it's own kind of TPMS system. When one of the tires starts getting a little soft, you need Popeye arms to steer the thing.

Getting a little outward bulge in the tread does help!!

Tri-ribs installed. Steers considerably better but not great. I'm going to yank the deck and tilt this baby up to get a good look at the steering gear. There's too much play.

Oh swell, this is the early (2005) GT2500 so it has the funky steering where the gears are above the box instead of underneath like everything else. I'm not sure what the best way to attack it is other than to start by yanking the deck. Oh well, all part of the experience.

Just for chuckles I decided to see if a series 82 steering wheel would fit the GT as I don't like the fat wheel that's on there. Short answer - nope, doesn't fit. The GT's shaft is thinner than the 782.

As to why your steering is so heavy my guess something is binding as my current Cub and the previous one both have the same steering setup and I would not describe it as heavy

Here's a nice little upgrade (after running out of gas while mowing). I bought a Kelch gas gauge tank cap. Works great, hope it lasts.

It probably won't.
Will work fine for a while but then start to degrade the plastic float that goes up and down to rotate the needle.
None of mine I have replaced stood the test of time.
Fuel sloshes around and gets up inside the lens and it's downhill from there.
Your results mat vary,

I purchased 2 of them a few short years ago, Kelch brand.
One for my 1650 and the other for my 782.
They worked as expected the rest of the year.
Next spring I noticed the "floats" would not float.
When placed in Gasoline they sank like a bobber in the lake with a large fish on the hook.
I'm not happy with them!
(If Viagra was not so expensive, I'd try adding a pill per tankful)
I suggest you keep your receipt just incase you have the same problem.

Perhaps replace with the original cap for Winter storage. That way it doesn't soak all Winter. We used to have the same problem with the flat fender Jeep repro sending units. Finally figured out how to replace the float with an impervious plastic. They worked great after that.

It didn't take long, just two mows, for me to get tired of sliding off the seat. What they were thinking when they decided to put a convex, ultra slippery vinyl seat on this thing is beyond me. I can see why they changed it the following year. Any slight tilt and you start sliding off. Yikes!

So, I just installed one of these babies. Two modifications - I had to drill one hole an inch forward of the slotted rear hole on each side in order to fit it onto the pre-existing platform. No biggie. Second, of course, is to adapt the seat switch. I decided to order a new one right away since the original is about 19 years old and likely to break if I massage it so when it arrives tomorrow I'll tackle that but I really don't expect too much trouble. My goodness is this seat comfy and it has adjustable slides front to back plus a cushion and hip huggers designed to hold you on the seat.
