Yes I did. I think I'm going to replace points and condendor for now, then after I get it back on its feet put the Kirk points saver and their twin coil on. Might make her run better

Change the plug wires. A cheap and easy fix.

tried a set of different points today and still no difference. the starter also locked up. im getting extremely irritated at this engine. i think i see a Mag 18 in the near future.

Starter locked up? Or engine won't turn? You don't have a cylinder full of gas do you? KT's are fine. Fix it. Buying another engine if this one just needs repaired is silly. Now, if it ends up it's bad, that's different.

the starter itself is locked up. just seems like one problem after another. this engine does have 1778 hours on it. i imagine shes getting weak. my only concern is, when i parked it a while back, i didn't know it had broken the diaphram in the fuel pump and filled the crankcase full of fuel. my brother used the tractor for about 25 minutes the day after and im wondering if running it with the gas in the oil for that long it damaged some internal parts. i just now found out he ran it.
