No real comparison in the "tractors". The SO76 is really just a collectable to look at and not use. It is a lawn tractor. I may be biased, but I'd go for the smoker in a heartbeat. I've got three smokers, and they are nice tractors. None will leave unless something tragic happens.

As stated before, they sip fuel as well. Buy the 782D and don't look back. Keep us posted on your, cough, cough, (smoker)hint/hint, choice........

Of course we all need to see a pic of your decision after it happens.

Ok well let me toss this out there then. 782D, spirit of 76 or 982 hydro?

seems these are all sort of rare I might be able to afford 2 but not counting on it. so if one is only coming home what is the rarest, hardest to find or most sought after?

Also price ranges on the 3, so i know i am not getting ripped off.

sorry to be a pain, but i am on the learning curve still of these tractors, but want to get some nice tractors for the collection while i can do it.

We would really need pictures to tell you any kind of value. I don't own any of the tractors you are asking about... The SO76 is probably the rarest. The 782D and the 982 are not really rare. Takes a little longer to find one, but not rare at all. As far as price, if I saw either of those two for less than $1000, I'd say that would be a deal! Otherwise, around $1500 IMO. Others may disagree.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
