I'll have to look for a picture of the 104, but I purchased a newer Cub. 1450 at an auction.
It started with a jump, really loud. Mower would kill l the engine. Everything else works the way it should. The side covers were missing. I took the air filter off and WOW! full of crap, feathers, sticks and other stuff. Muffler box was broken Muffler missing(no wonder it was loud.) Side cover that holds coil is all buster. Dip stick tube is loose where it fastens to the base that bolts to the engine.Head lights didn't work. Well that's about it on the problems. |

Not a bad looking 1450 at all. I know, you'll get it fixed up.

I was working on her for a good while today.
I have the motor back together all the shielding in place. New muffler on, and muffler box improvements finished. Casting front back on. Fixed the head lights. Need to finish up with the Hood. Need to get a battery complete service. |

The 1450 has wheel weights, loaded tires, Ag tires, 3pt hitch, mower.
This should be a real puller. I need a tractor that can tote a trailer load of dirt up a good hill. It will be a complete 1450 when I get her back in shape. I am not going to repaint the hole tractor. I did some painting in the engine compartment. Maybe some touch up painting but no more. This tractor has a fairly good paint job. |

I pulled the engineon Tuesday.
Smokes a bit when I changed the oil to 30 wt. Oil was kinda thick when I drained the old oil out. Makes you wonder what was in it. I know you like pictures so here's the engine pulled. While I have te engine out I'll adjust the fram thickness at front axle and clean the grime off the engine compartment. Still finding bird feathers. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
