Move the R and L seat tracks forward to expose an allen head bolt. Remove those two bolts. Be careful with the tracks or you'll knock the rollers out of them.
You have two bolts in each side of the fender pan at the foot rest. Take them out and the pan should lift off. Remember how the seat and fuel sender wires are routed. |

Seat binding
Thanks for the reminder on the wiring.
One of the issues I ran into that prevented me from seeing the allen head bolts is that the seat sliding adjustment doesn't work. very little forward or backward movement when I press the release. I suspect the rollers or bearings may already be out of whack. I am going to see if I can get the 4 seat pan screws out far enough to lift part of the track high enough to get to the allen head screws. Once there, I plan to replace the tank bushing and maybe the shutoff since one of our sponsors sells the set. I plan to clean and reuse everything else except the hose. Is there anything else I should be looking at buying while I am ordering? |

Yes, use a hammer and a driving bar to move the tracks. Don't go crazy here or the tracks may disintegrate.
Sometimes it helps if you blast water in the tracks to knock dirt and crud out and allow the tracks to move. Don't go any further that necessary to get to the bolt heads. The pan the seat bolts to isn't part of your problem. |

I just cleaned and replaced the hoses on the fuel system on my 1864, similar tractor. I sourced the fuel hose from NAPA and reused the clamps. The valves under the fuel tank were loaded with crud. Easy to clean when removed. I used a light silicone (ArmorAll) to lube the new bushings and old valves when reinstalling. You may be able to replace the fuel hose and clean the valves without removing the fender pan. Not sure how thoroughly you may be able to clean the fuel tank without removal.

The best thing you can do is get the seat and fender pan off, remove and throughly clean the tank, remove the tank valves and clean them out or replace. Put them back in with new bungs. All new fuel lines and filter all the way to the carb. Anything else will make carburetor maintenance worthless.
