Good call, its the only one I have. No matter your preference, buy yourself a good manual, good tools and get your parts on this site. It really will be an enjoyable hobby.

Right! I have the tractor manual, the engine manual, a Delco-Remy manual, and a Sundstrand manual. WF are easier to work on for sure, but I didn’t know that when I found my 125. I love mine and it does everything I need on my mini farm.

Not sure what kind of duty it will see, but either pre or post MTD, for reliability it would be a 1810 or 1811. Essentially, it's an IH engineered machine (which I detect your after) with the much better Magnum engine.

What’s the difference between an 1810 and an 1811?

Which One
Thanks for all the input and suggestions.
I have found a Quietline near by. The owner has his own mower repair business and it is behind his shop. He is unsure if it is 1450 or 1650. The side covers have been repainted. Since I do not have the space or tools or desire to restore or rebuild he will only sell it to me if he can get it running and serviceable. It may take him some time, so we will see what comes of it. I saw one sitting on the back of a lot on the way home from church this morning I need to check out also. |

This question has come up several times on this forum in the past and I have belonged to this forum since 2009 or something like that.....As I recall, and I have a photographic memory, but sometimes I forget to load the film, from what others have said before, the best all-around cub cadet that IH made seems to be the 125. I have owned 2 of them and sold both. IMHO, the best cub cadet is the one that performs that tasks that you need for it to perform when you need to perform them. It will be your "go to tool" that will make your work easier and with some TLC, it won't let you down. Best wishes on whatever cub you select and take home!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
