I like old IH trucks! They, like the old Jeep Gladiator have that old school ruggedness about them. However, Both the Jeep and IH are a little harder to obtain body parts. So, the Jeep is eliminated and I am considering a Toyota Tundra. Sam Mac has one and has made many positive comments about it. A while back I think it was Zippy1 who posted a link on YouTube about crash tests. The Toyota Tundra and the Chevy Silverado faring the best and next best respectively. Basically, The Chevy Cheyenne Super 30 is still my first choice but the Tundra is still a contender.

How do you go from wanting a 70's Chevy/Jeep to a aToyota Tundra?

I like the 70's Chevy's. But, I like the early 90's trucks too. I drive a '91 Chevy Silverado now. We ran the 70's trucks growing up. I used to have a 77 C-30 dually. 454, 400 turbo.... GAS HOG!! Traded it for a 1996 Dodge 3500 4x4 dually diesel 5 speed. Now that was a truck!!!

I still want the '73 Chevy dually...but if I cannot find the one I want then I will go for the Tundra. The 70's 454 was a gas sucker...but I don't care...it is not going to be a daily driver!

Speaking of gas hog..... my 91 isn't so great. 350 with a 4L80E, 4X4 and 4.10 gears. It gets like 10mpg. But it can pull a good load! I like it, but i miss my diesels.

Don't rember what year the small block 400 came out but I had a 1978 K30 with one in it and it wouldn't get out of its own way. I bought it a year old with 12,000 miles on it.

Growing up, dad always had some Jeep or two. He had CJs, Jeepster Commandos and a J series truck. They were all fun and they worked hard. The neighbor guy had GMCs from the 70s and they were tough and worked hard too. My sister had a blue and white Chevy Cheyenne dually that was very cool and classy. So, there you go.

I thought you already owned the Chevy. Do you really need a dually? I saw a 70 4x4 3/4 ton 4 speed sell on Mechum's auction sell for 11k, looked like new. I thought that was a deal compared to what's on the lots, new or used. Mike
