Do you have plans to seal up the area between the engine air intake and the baffle?

I have no plans but I'm thinking about it. What would happen if I didn't seal it up? I have the old foam but it's not in great condition.

You need to seal the space between the blower housing and the fire wall or it will recirculate hot air and over heat the engine. I used what racers call "Roll plastic and made basically a large tube when I re-powered a 1210 with a Vanguard.

I have used foam that one would use on a seat cushion, and cut it to size
it's been working well for 11 years. You do not want to pull hot air from the engine compartment as Sam says. |

That looks quite professional what you did with that roll plastic. I'll seal mine up with something before the weather warms up.

The old engine is now free to anyone who can come by and pick it up. I'm near Vittoria Ontario.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
