When I first got my 1572 in 1998. It would run great at half throttle and no load. It would stall and quit sorta like you are explaining. I changed the filters and it was all good.

I changed the filters and put fresh diesel in it and it didn't do anything. I took the lines off at the injectors and it is getting fuel.

Is there any way to clean the injectors and test the pressure at the injector pump to make sure it's working as it should?

You should just loosen the line a 1/4-1/2 turn @ the injectors one @ a time and crank it.
It should squirt fuel from the loosened fitting and that bleeds air out of it.
To answer your question:
Yes, a diesel shop can test and adjust the cracking pressure of the injectors.
I have done a few. it is not something you can do yourself effectively.
What you can do, is remove the injector and hook it to the line and crank it to see if it will spray a cone pattern.
( different engines have different patterns)
Just be careful as they are in the vicinity of #2000 give/take.
It will pierce your skin if it is exposed to the nozzle spray/pressure.
Be sure to have the throttle open when bleeding/testing

The secondary filter may have air in it, unscrew the plastic filter housing a little and turn on the key to push out any air in it. It will make a mess....

Additionally there is an air bleed screw on the banjo fitting on the injector pump. Withe the key on and this screw just cracked you should have fuel flowing at this point. Any air in the system should bubble out as well.

Again, thank you for all the assistance everyone......this site and its members are great!

Unfortunately, this problem looks like it's going to be bigger than I anticipated. Two of the three injectors were working fine when I pulled them out and cranked the engine over.......a nice steady and strong spray patter. The injector does nothing though. I switched a the injectors around and put one that was spraying fuel on the line that wasn't and the same thing happened, nothing came out. So that line coming from the injector pump isn't getting fuel.

1) Would the engine still start and run on 2 out of 3 cylinders?

2) Could a broken injector pump spring be the cause of this?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
