Cub Cadet straight 30wt in my 1810 and the 1210 it replaced. I can’t believe how much cleaner the oil stays in the M18 with the oil filter compared to the K301 without a filter.

I have to mow in a temperature range between 50f up to 100f and have used 10w 40 oil as the 30 is at the top of its ability to lubricate when the temp is in the 90f and above range
This is a petrol Kohler Oz

CaseIH 30W Low Ash Oil or Pennzoil 30W Low Ash High Detergent Oil when on sale ($4 Ace Hardware). The Pennzoil is the only recommended replacement for CaseIH Low Ash 30w per CaseIH (per Hoober and Messicks).
In over 40 years of operating small engine powered equipment, I've never experienced an engine lubrication or over heating problem following the manufacturers recommendations. Straight 30W HD.

'Where oh where' do you install the oil pressure gauge? And where do you tap the engine for line to the gauge? Photos would be much appreciated. Steve

I used a SW mechanical gauge, and a brass "T" to retain the factory idiot lamp.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
