Also, the tiller lift pin has the large hole on the end going vertical instead of horizontal due to the chains attaching in a different manner than the straps like the above photos. Of the 3 lift pins I have, I don't think but maybe one was originally painted white. The other 2 are zinc plated.

KL: Those "zinc" plated pins are ones CCC(MTD) had made after they ran out of the original stock of IH made pins which were white.

Here is another person with a novice question....if the pin is supposed to be white on an IH 982, what is the casting supposed to be?? White or Red?

Technically, the 982 would have only had a Cat-0 3-point and not the IH 3-point, but it'd most likely be red. Later ones supplied by MTD were white, but those look kinda dumb in my opinion...I'd paint it red.

Sounds about right.....anyone else in the peanut gallery have an opinion? What about having the pin black - would that look out of place??
