One more update. I didn't pull the steering column yet. Most of the play was due to the big bolt that holds the box together was way loose. To the point I can turn the nut with my fingers. I snugged it up and it steers great now. A couple rod end have a little play, but not bad. Look what I found when I pulled the steering wheel cap off! I think this tractor has less than 500 hours and was well taken care of.

My 1050 was the first tractor I bought myself. I traded it for my 1572. Nice save on your tractor.

AFAIK , there is no difference the way the cast rears bolt in.
I put a cast rear in a 1050 a few years back and i had to drill two holes in the frame because the aluminum rear had two bolts offset different than the cast rear. Seems like it was the middle bolts ?? I bolted in the front brackets and seems like the rear bolts were lined up but the middle bolts needed new holes drilled in the frame. I am old and i have CRS , but there was a difference between the cast and aluminum rear bolting in. Good Luck !! Darrell |

It looks like you were busy today. No smoke as I can tell. That shroud still has the decal on it so it must not have a lot of hours on it.
Too bad the 1050 does not have an hour meter on it. Is that the pto bearing making all that noise?

My eyes couldn't see any either. I haven't pulled it off to confirm, but that's what it sounds like. I happen to have a few of those in stock

Got alot of small things done the past 2 days. Took the lift button out and cleaned it up and made a float pin. Shortened up the brake rod. Had to bend the arm the clutch switch and return spring mount to, as the spring was rubbing the rockshaft and making a horrible noise. Replaced the noisy PTO bearing. I used the lengthened driveshaft from the 122, that donated the trans, to measure the driveshaft length. I got the front trans to frame bolts in. I loosened up the rear ones and jacked up the front and they lined up with the holes right in front of ones for the aluminum trans. Cleaned out the diff and put new fluid in. Lubed up the brake and rockshaft. Picking up some parts Saturday. Hope to be driving it by Monday.
Oh, and apparently the cam stop is different from a hydro lift. I borrowed the one from the 1862. I will have to find one, I guess.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
