I think they had the "wide base" block in the case though didn't they? They won't fit in the cub. There were two different K341 blocks. A narrow base, and a wide. If there were others I don't know.

I just bought one of them 341's last week for $20 from a friend of mine. It had been in a flood but was very saveable. It had the wide base block bottom. I traded it to someone else for a very low hour HH100 Techumsah engine for a MF10 I am going to restore. I didn't check the block bottom but wonder if a cub oil pan would fit one.

JD's and Wheelhorses use the same oil pan setup ,but to use it in a cub I was told you need to weld up the block, then put a cub one on it.PTO end is larger than a cub also.

Kelly,
That question was brought up here not too long ago, Don Voit (dvogtvpe) said the blocks are different. I didn't know that until then. As many engines as he's rebuilt, I'd say that is correct.

That's fixable though. Turn it down, or swap cranks.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
