Appears to me to that there are no "slots" but raised ridges on the end. But maybe slots. If it has ridges, I think it is some sort of one time use, "drive into a hole" rivet type of fastener. The one pictured looks like it might have never been installed. If it even came from his rider, it might be a factory extra that was dropped into the machine somehow during assembly and it finally rattled around to where it could fall out. |

I am looking at a picture on my phone that the OP posted.
Yes I clicked the picture. No. I cannot tell if it does or does not have threads. That is why I wrote "Can't tell if the end is threaded". My phone is a 6 year old POS with poor resolution, but I somehow feel like shouldn't have to justify that.

Chad there seems to be a lot of things that you don't feel you should explain or justify. If you are going to help the guy out.... I would think you would want to know what it is you are looking for. Sweet of you to take the time, but it's a needle in a haystack my friend. It doesn't even look like a pin that would be used on a tractor anyway. Looks to me more like it came off a garage door opener.

Which is why I looked up threaded and non threaded. Quote:
I'm sitting here wondering why I am still commenting on this, but I guess it is just the nature of you and I both, to somehow not be perceived as anything less but intelligent. I sure don't want to sound arrogant, but I don't want to ever be wrong either. Damn. I think I just tried to justify myself.

I've not seen a "bolt" without a thread, so it is a one time pin with punched retaining"ears" not meant to be removed after assembly.
I sure as hell wouldn't loose sleep over it. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
