FWIW, I had to pull a half shaft out of a FWD transmission with 12awg and a slide hammer somewhat similar to what you did. I couldn't believe it worked! I may try the same thing on my wheel.

I'm looking forward to the end of your build. I've been day dreaming of P/S on my 1650 since the day I brought it home.

The thhn was layin on the shop floor next to me when I was looking for rope. After I used it I realized how nice it was to my steering wheel!

Between work and ambulance runs, I have not had time to do anything with the 1450. I plan to start in again Saturday with hopes of finishing the mount for the hydraulics, finish the cylinder mount and extend the scv lever arms.

Once I reach that point, its I will have these parts to finish.

Plumb hydraulic lines
Thread the hyd cylinder ram
Build a new drag link
Install in line ball joint and adjust
Test after fixing engine, motor mounts, re-installing said engine and mounts

Nightow1 seems to think I should tear it back down, clean, and re-paint. I kinda agree, but have not gotten over the hump yet on the idea... any thoughts?

Finish the build then take it back down for paint if you like once all of the mechanical gremlins are worked out. You might even want to use it for awhile first to see if you want to change something. Custom anything is always an experiment.

Finally got to work on the 14 yesterday. I got all of the steel lines cut bent and installed from the pump to the column and spool valve. Got the lines for the steering cylinder made, and had new ones build for the lift cylinder while I was at it. All that is left for hydraulic lines now is to tie in the front and rear outlets to the scv.

After that, I need to finish the steering cylinder bracket, make the drag link, shem the front axle, hook up the hydraulic levers re-install the engine and test it out! Ofcourse I'm leaving smaller stuff out, but y'all get the picture.

I'll have pix tomorrow.

Oh yeah, it really tries a guys patience. I have never had to put bends quite like these in refrigeration tubing. I'm just hoping there are no leaks!
