Did some work on it this evening. Located the oil crankcase dipstick. It was difficult to see, so I cleaned it and shot it in yellow. Also, that annoying pipe stack is gone, and the muffler is mounted the proper way. I need the heat shields, shield mounting screws, and a correct tip clamp to button that up. Oil and filter needs to be changed now. It reads to be a quart high!

Yes, runs and drives beautifully. Starts kinda hard, but once its going its good. No blue smoke.

I changed the oil using OEM Kubota filter and oil, filled to the 98.4 OZ spec. The oil light did not work at all. I hooked it up, and it stays illuminated until mid throttle then goes out. I'm going to replace the sending unit, and see if that corrects it. Otherwise I will need to dig deeper to fix the low oil pressure. Thinking that the relief valve could be hanging up. Now I have read that on some older Kubotas, the aluminum cam plugs fall out and cause a low oil pressure condition. Not sure if this applies to these D600's or not..
Also, I managed to shear off a driveshaft pin on the engine end just driving it around my property. The hydro end has a cheap bolt in it. I ordered two spirol pins to replace both ends.

Back to the cam on these D600's, looking at the exploded drawings, looks like there are threaded set screw on the end of the cam, instead of the aluminum plugs. Anyone know for sure if the cam screws/plugs were an issue with the D600'S?

Thank you. I hope to have it figured out without replacing the oil pump or bearings.
I ordered the updated NGK glow plugs and Ford truck G.P. relay. I also received a new gear reduction starter unit. Those two mods should make it start far easier.

I used a LED light wired to one of the GP's when I removed the original GP heat indicator. That way I can be sure the plugs are getting juice. Make sure that you remove that because it is wired in series with the original setup.
DSC03584 - Copy.jpg I hope you don't have any major issues with your oil pressure problem. All of my diesel's have the light go out in about 2-3 seconds at low idle when started.

Does anyone know the size of the retaining rings for the frame mounted hydraulic ports? The MTD number is 716-3014. Pictured below is the fitting that the ring attaches to and the rig keeps the fitting snug to the frame.
