A 782D and a 784 are two completely different tractor models. NOT the same.

Yep,
Roland's right, they are two different beasts. Sorry if I caused any confusion. I was just pointing out how the serial tag/model number may say something different than the hood. 784 model/ 782 hood decal, 984 model/ 982 hood decal. And on the 782D's which of course have the diesel engine versus gas engine, the serial number tag reads 882, but it's a 782D.

Well, I talked to the owner yesterday. He is just to high. I pulled out all the stops but still no deal. He just wanted too much. One of the reasons for not getting the cub is I know of a Powerking 2418 for sale. i have always wanted a big Powerking.
Anyway, thanks for all the help.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
