Did you mearure the cylinder bore like the Kohler manual showed? How did you measure it? What are the measurements? You will need those measurements to deside what piston and rings you will need. I will measure and record the bore diameter and crank journal when I take a motor apart. Kohler has min-max tolerance on the crank journal and bore. They aslo have a max allowance on taper for bore and crankpin. I would replace the connecting rod too. |

my 108's cyclinder wall looked like that and it WILL not hone out. i don't know what causes that, but when you find out, let me know too. if you were in alabama, i could have it done plus the valves reset (?) for $50. i am gonna wait till later to do the 108 and save my money and completely redo the 1200 this winter. jeff

That's probably either dirt that got ingested into the engine or broken rings.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
