That wiring is disastrous. I'd rewire it right meow!

The one in the pic is ridiculous overkill. You just need a 5 prong relay. Available where parts are sold. Buy a pigtail for it too. I'd post part numbers, but I don't know them off my head and I'm too lazy to go outside and get the ones off the boxes of them I keep.

The added relay is overkill and is usually only used to connect 12V power to the solenoid on the starter. Like it was said already a 5 wire relay should suffice.

Ok all thanks for your input. Oak mentioned something in his post about check the quality of ground. Then it click what was wrong. The other project I was working on at the time was removing the PTO (for bearing replacement). To do this the four bolt that hold the grill and battery support were loosened to slide forward an inch or so thus I was able to remove the PTO off the shaft.

Tonight tightened those 4 bolts back and it fired right up. The relay was not grounded to the frame anymore. Problem solved. Still need to clean up that wiring...

my 2182 has the clicking issue in the starter ckt. see an additional starter relay was added to correct. it there any way to correct this issue -- like adding or replacing a wire to the existing starter solenoid wiring circuit. would like to correct my clicking issue if possible without adding the relay in the picture if possible. have been sent a wiring schematic by a member of this site. anyone out there have any experience fixing this problem. understand the cub cadet makers had a factory fix for this issue. anyone out there know what and how they corrected the issue?

From what I know the only way to fix the problem would mean replacing all the wiring and safety switches because over the years the connections get corroded and the resistance increases causing the starter solenoid to not get enough power. By adding the relay you aren't sacrificing any of the safety switches and is the easiest fix.

My son EricR fixed our 2072 and my 2084 with a trailer relay. It took us about 20 minutes to install and wire it up. Have not had the clicking problem since in either of them. As I recall the cost was about $15 each.

I sent you what Cub calls "Relay Up" personally I think it's overly complicated and it looks like you need 2 relays for that set up but if you want to do it that way be my guest. I would add a relay and call it a day. It's only 1 relay with 4 wires.

1: Ground wire (yellow #85)
2: Power from the battery connection on the starter is the best place to connect to. (red #30)
3: The blue wire that goes to the solenoid on the starter now will go to the relay. (blue #86)
4: The green wire will now go to the starter solenoid. (green #87)
The terminal numbers are on the relay.

thank you taylorjim for site reference for relay fix. I did it this am on my 2182; whereby wg600 setup looks bit different, but it still was fairly simple and it starts right up.. Also did undercoat to battery platform and had to make new bolt tie down for battery due originals corroded so thin.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
