I don't have the tin in place between the engine and the battery. Some say that will cause the engine to run hot which will heat the fuel. I have also read to shut the engine off hot at full throttle as idling the engine before you shut it off makes the engine hotter. Don't know. I have two other Commands and neither of them have had this problem. |

If I understand it correctly the fuel solenoid does not cut the fuel off at low throttle when idling. Only at 3/4-Full throttle. So, perhaps I should idle it for a time to cool down and then return to 3/4 throttle and shut it down there preventing fuel from dumping in the carb? Please anyone correct me if I am wrong with how the fuel solenoid works.

Fuel solenoid is electric. Throttle position has NO EFFECT on it.

If my engine hadn't straightened itself out (for now) my next step was going to be to pull the top off the carb and check fuel level in the float bowl and see if the fuel solenoid was retracting like it's supposed to.
You could try the same to check out the "gasoline evaporation" theory. |

Yes and no, not a blanket statement for all. For the engine discussing here, JMech is prob right. For the newer commands such as the CH680, shut off solenoid shuts off only high speed circuit fuel, idle circuit is not affected thus if shutting off a hot engine at idle, it will run-on. The manual suggests high throttle position shut off, I use mid throttle and it works. Weird, dumb design.

Something I didn't mention about my situation. When I turn the key off, the ignition doesn't ground and kill the spark. The engine shuts off after the solenoid closes and shuts the gas off to the engine so it does control low speed fuel feed. CH 18/20.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
