Can anybody tell me if the red used on the farm tractors was the same as the cubs?

FWIW, I think this paint scheme would be better suited for a NF tractor. They had features that were more similar to the IH tractors of the same period. The Gold Demo tractors stopped with the '56 series. The '66 series had different styling, and we see the same thing in the Cubs of the same period. If other words.... The front cast grille housing and round bar grille of say a 127 match more closely to the 826 Hydro in your pic. I don't think a 149/1450 is going to look right in red and gold. Just my |

I think it will be a cool project. I agree with J about the narrow frame but only from the front. I think from the side a wide frame will look good with a gold hood.
It's been like a day and we are still talking about paint? Hurry up Tim.

I'm thinking that you meant to say a 1X2/1X3 series grill?

With the 1450 dash on a 129 frame, it will be right hand drive? I would suggest if it's right hand drive, you move the lift levers to the left side, but that wouldn't go so good with a mechanical pto lever. Will it have a pto? Your paint mock up looks nice. Robble Robble

I'm glad you can paint better in real life than you can on a computer!! LMFAO! Hey, if you really want to do a copy, put the hydro lever over on the left hand side like it is on the 826 you posted. The farm I work for has 3 IH hydro tractors and they screw with me bad when I drive them. Not only is it on the wrong side, but the "Z" pattern is backwards from a Cub, and incidentally, it's also backwards from a combine hydro lever. I cannot for the life of me understand why IH did this. Yes, that's the grill style I was thinking of. Hey, will that grill from a 1X2/3 series fit in the 1X4/5's? Just wondering.... |

It will fit if you use the cast grill housing from a 71,1x2/3. but then the muffler shield would have to be from the after mentioned.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
