Congratulations Stan!
I'm very pleased the O went to you. I was another guy who too wanted it, but it was just too far. My brother has a 4 digit, and even he thought about calling up Martin on that one. The price was very fair. Not low.... FAIR. It was priced perfectly for what it was. It went to a well deserved home. I would cast a strong vote for leaving it as it is. Not that I don't like a good restoration job, because I do... but I think that the condition of that tractor is still very good, and a resto just isn't necessary. At a car show, I like the original condition cars as long as they look like they were well taken care of. Sorry, I can't help with the name. I'm not much for naming equipment. I call tractors by their numbers, but do sometimes refer to them as female. (As in "she's wore out". Or, "stupid b**** won't start!") Seems most of my stuff is female. Not sure why.... |

After walking around this little O, I've decided to do only a thorough cleaning and leave it as it is. It's rolling history.
As for the nickname, all were good but Oak's suggestion of Ripcord just seems right. So Ripcord the recoil Original it is! Thanks for all the kind comments guys!

Yeah, I'm with you, I call mine a Cub Cadet 1250. But she's a good tractor. I mean it's a good tractor. Aww, you know what I mean.

Well, if it would have been sold to a Southerner, it could have been named Yankee.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
