I guess if I was you I'd take a few days off and calm down, then start a systematic approach at the problem. go over what you've done and check things you haven't. obviously you are missing something . these are the simplest of engines to work on.
what were the adjustments you made when you changed oil?

Test the condensor or replace it with a known good one.

replaced the battery, replaced the S/G with a newer one, new points, new condesor, new push rod for points, adjusted the valves (mainly exhaust), fixed the ACR, checked the head gasket and head, decarboned the piston and chamber. and new oil

Just for giggles put your old one back on, see if anything changes and watch the point cover, they like to rub on the point wire when it passes through.
try running it with the point cover off, just a hunch, it is a no cost thing.
I've seen it before.

If it ran great before, it isn't the cam. Probably not the push rod either. You have got to be over looking it. Did you time it with the flywheel and a light or DVOM?

jon...no offense but what is DVOM?? i usually just guess at timing them and get it right...as for timing it with a light and flywheel i cant find any marks on the flywheel.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
