I have had a Kohler Command. It sucked fuel like nothing else, overheated, and had little power....But they do sound cool, like a Harley Davidson.

Default More smoke!!! Now with pictures!

OK --- I replaced the oil filler cap. I replaced the gasket around the dipstick. Both of these were cracked. I did my best to clean up the oily mess. Today I had to mow again, and at first there was just a little bit of smoke. I figured this was old spill that was just burning off. It stopped after a bit, but then towards the end of the mow, it started smoking again

As you'll note, the front of the tractor is now an oily mess. So is the entire engine compartment. I parked it in the garage over a piece of cardboard and there is dripping everywhere.

Here are some pictures:

Thanks for the help on the Dx. I'm not sure my skills are up to trying to replace a crank seal. There is a local CC shop that has pick-up service and I'll be giving them a call this morning.

Yep crank seal. I did one of them at the mower shop for a guy. Piece of cake, you all know how fat I am, and how I like cake. The hardest part is all the sheet metal screws in a dang vanguard! Youll get a coffee can full of them!

If you can change the dipstick seal, you can change the crank seal. Piece of cake. Just make sure to put some anti seize on the crankshaft so if you have to ever take off the PTO clutch, it slides right off.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
