The QA42A with the correct pulley would work good for a snowthrower. The width is perfect whereas the QA36A is sometimes too narrow and doesn't clear enough of a path for the rear wheels to clear, especially in deeper snow. I used a QA42A for years and it worked great at WOT in the "right" snow, powdery, not wet/slushy.
Recently picked up a 450 blower. Look forward to trying it out this winter on one of the smokers. I've heard nothing but great things about the blowers and how well and far they blow snow. Never used a Haban thrower before. So if you're wanting a single stage, I'd go for a QA42A and larger drive pulley. Blower, I'd try to find a 450.

Two stage would be a definite plus, but I would not turn down a single stage if it presents itself.

If your present tractor will not handle a 2 stage you will have to take a page out of the Sam Mac book of bigger is better and get a super I have a 2084 and a 451 true blower and Eric has a 2086 with a 551 blower. Together there is no snow we cannot handle. A two stage blower will blow whatever enters its gaping maw 20-25 feet. Only drawback is blowing into the wind without a cab. Weight on the rear of the tractor is necessary as the two stage blowers are heavy beasts. I did do pretty well without chains last winter but then I have 26X12X12 firestone ags and 150 lbs of weights.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
