i was also thinking about drilling and tapping the small pad that sticks up off the rear and putting a bracket in there too, what do you guys think? is there anything in there to worry about?

Waht bracket would you be putting there? personally i dont know if i would mess it just because its cast. Also where your rockshaft sits looks nice but ill throw the idea out there of getting some (i think there called) solid one piece locking collars with a set screw in them and welding them to the seat pan around your rockshaft so they have more surface to rotate on and take the set screw out and put a grease zerk in instead. That should save some future wear issues on the seat pan and rockshaft. Also for your hydraulic cylinder maybe mounting it on the outside on the back like Case garden tractors had on theirs, or aftermarket 3 points for farmall H's and M's.

thats a good idea, i never thought about using a shaft collar, that would work good, i had some 5/8x7/8x1 bushings laying around i was gonna use them.

ok didnt get alot accomplished today cause my wifes grandmother went to the hospital, so i spent my morning there.
but i got the brackets made up and boy is it strong! i cant believe just how strong it is, im very happy with the way it turned out. it is very sturdy, but there is a problem. once i weld on the upper lift arms, thats it, it can never come out again unless i do something different..... i dont realy want to bolt the lift arms on cause they will just work loose, but what i am thinking is the original holes for the lift arm.... if i notch them, atleast i can remove the rockshaft as a assembly, and do repairs outside of the tractor. gotta run and get some more bolts and another 5/8" drill bit, and do some errands and get some dinner then ill be back out and maybe make the lift arms, then the rockshaft will pretty much be finished. |

You could put them on with roll pins like IH put the lift handle assebly together on the x9 series. Or use grade 8 bolts. I like what CADplans idea is tho.

or just put a bolt throught it...... i guess ill have to get some more sleeves or make some......
no comes the tricky part, ill have to either order some weld on lift arm balls.... im debating using cat 1 balls and putting the cat 1 to cat 0 bushings in them that would work..... then i could use cat 1 drawbar that tsc sells....... i guess ill be making another trip to tsc in the morning..... |
