Default Cyclops?

So, I really know nothing about this series of GT;

(Edit: there was a link here to a Craigslist add for an 1861 for $100.00. Sold in less than a day.)

From the headlights it looks like what you guys call a Cyclops. And from Tractor Data it looks to be early 90's, so all MTD, right? The boot around the base of the steering wheel suggests it might have tilt wheel? And then in that case maybe power steering?. I don't see a deck lift arm like on my 1200 so I guess it has hydro lift?, but I don't see a lever for this...

I think the 61 could be a tall or short front axle (I have a tall). The way that air filter cover is sitting I'd guess the engine is junk now too. Looks like you could salvage a good seat though.

I've grown to like the cyclops series myself. If it was near here I'd probably take a look at it.

You can't go wrong on that one for $100. The 1861 did not have power steering. Lots of good parts on that for the price.

For $100 I'd buy it even if the engine is junk. It has hydro lift. Drop a Vanguard or a CH in it and you'd have a sweet tractor. Wish it was in my area, I'd be on the way with the trailer and the cash.

From the pics it looks like he had it covered with a tarp, doesn't look all rotted.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
