Not releasing my "trade secrets" LOL guys. Naw, he heard that I have an interest in Cub Cadets in general and called me up and asked if I was interested. He's actually down near Birmingham and I had a little cash and an engine he was interested in. So y'all rest easy, it's not like he was advertising it and I got there first, just a stroke of Luck I guess you would say! Anyway here's a photo of it on its way to it's new Home! Now if I can just find a dadgum battery that will fit in the battery compartment

Awesome score! I picked up a 1572 from a dealer in Talladega and a 782D from somewhere near Wilsonville....missed a few over there too.

All you need is a good L&G battery. That is all I run in all of my smokers. Do the starter & GP upgrade and your good to go. It's not like you'll be trying crank that badboy when it's 20 below zero like them suckers up north. Actually some of my machines still have the original starters and GP's in them and they crank fine.

What he said, don't worry about shoe horning a big battery in there. Just upgrade to the gear reduction starter. And then do the glow plug upgrade.

Be sure to check your ground connections. On my 1772 the ground was sandwiched between the lift ring and the cylinder head, there was quite a bit of rust there.

Hey now Todd. I resemble that comment. Yes, GP upgrade and GR starter do make a world of difference. So do a disconnect clutch and heated shop..........

The second ground cable also helps in this situation as well. And I agree totally with you. CLEAN, CLEAN cable ends, battery posts, ground points.

Welcome to the Super club and congratulations on your new find. I am sure it will serve you well. In addition to the other stuff already posted check the drive line out as they usually take a beating.

Its a heavy tractor, likes to have all four wheels on the ground, all the time. The
rougher the terrain, the more flex.

So, do I get it right that if you have a 3 point or bagger plate, you are protected against breakage and don't need the braces?

Frank, I would say it helps but I would still recommend the "Mac" brace kit. All Cyclops's have the rear plate and they brake the rears too.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
