Bought an XT2 back in April 2015. No problems except the rear axle seals were leaking a little this Spring; covered under warranty and replaced. It has the Kawawsaki FR651V, 23 HP engine.

Unfortunately this is correct. I went from an LTX1042KW (basically an XT2) to an XT3 for my primary mower. The difference is staggering.

I also purchased an XT3-GSX last October and am totally satisfied. My previous machine was a 1340 which I still have. It has an electric clutch and I've never had a problem with it in over 25 years. I've read many comments on the electric lift and the electric power steering, but only from people who don't own an XT3.

In 25 years, when I still have my old Cubs, come back and tell us if you still have yours. I'm not convinced at all the electric power steering and deck lift will work for many years. My hydraulic lift and manual lift still will though!

That's why I bought and XT3 GS with manual deck lift and manual power steering. If it lasts half as long as the older Cub's I'll be happy.

Manual power steering huh.... all my tractors have that. Hope you didn't pay extra. For the price of an XT3, if it only lasts half as long as an old Cub, I'd be disappointed. Could have spent less and bought an old one, fixed it up and it last twice as long.

This debate never gets old, lol.

You're a hundred percent right. I just moved to a new house in December and I'm putting on a new roof, replacing windows, drywall and paint, and putting up a 30x50 pole building garage. I needed something I can hop on, mow, and not worry about for the time being. The XT3 was the cheapest new GT I could find with a good transmission. I do have a 782 that this forum has been helping me with, and I'd love to find a 149 to work on when my shop is finished.
