I have a Harbor Freight cabinet and a 60 gal compressor. I use garnet sand in it.

I bought a sand blaster at Sears for about 70 dollars. My compressor set up is a 5 horse 220 compressor with a 15 gal tank hooked to a 80 gal tank. The blaster works pretty good but after trying electrolysis to remove paint and rust the sand blaster just sits there looking dejected. Electrolysis takes longer but without the dust and mess of sandblasting.

I use a 3500 psi power washer with a sandblaster kit. If the part is real rusty I will use sandblasting media, If its just surface rust the play sand works well for me. One thing to remember with play sand is to open the bag and let it dry, Because moisture will clog the nozzle. You do get wet but on a hot day its fun and cool, and no dust to breath in. Yes it will start to rust because of using water but time and a wire wheel shines it right up. I got some rims to do in a couple of weeks, If I remember I will take some photos of them.

You can get dry sand in the mason supply dept. Quik Crete bags it. I used a couple bags of it. I like sand blasting sand better because it doesn't have as much fine stuff and it cuts faster. TSC should have it. I got some at the local NAPA.

I'm shocked that no one where has the "big" harbor freight cabinet (40lb cab)! My Dad has one and it works shockingly well.. It's JUST big enough to get an inline 6 (258) oil pan in. It would be almost perfect for a cub hood if you don't mind opening the door to flip it around. For $200 it's a criminal steal. His compressor is some ancient thing from 1953 (honestly) that has been piston slapping for at least the past 20 years.

I have no idea what media he has, but I'm betting its not much better than play sand.

When I have a job that allows me access to a cabinet, they are usually using a coarse aluminum oxide media.

No matter what blaster or media you're using, hitting your part with a wire wheel on an angle grinder before blasting will save you at least 1/2 the time.

Played with the pressure washer sandblaster today on the dump bed for my Deere Dumper. Got most of the nasty stuff off before I ran out of sand. Before and after pics. I like this tool!

Wow..... That pressure washer sandblasting really looks like it's the ticket!

... are those 2 1" cylinders on that dumper? I think the bed needs bigger (3140lbs/ea @ 1000psi)!!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
