If you had a hydro you would have infinite speed range, from nothing to max swash, no need for hi/low range.
A super garden tractor has 1 tooth less on pinion gear on the hydro to compensate for the larger diameter tires they put on them.
If you had a hydro you would have the ability of adding power steering and power beyond to activate a lift cylinder or additional circuits for power angle.

You would however be limited by speed of these as your GPM's of the charge pump are too small for something like a log splitter/loader but you could add an additional pump of higher GPM's.

Oh, yea, if I tinkered with it for a while,, I could get the charge pump to split some firewood,, too,,

maybe not 36" blocks of gum tree wood,, not a pickup load in 15 minutes,,
but, it would split most of the firewood a normal human wants to use,,,

I say that because I built one back in the 1980's ,, and it worked for me,,
I did not take any pictures,,,
