A couple of hours of connecting wiring, hoses and cables, it fired right up, and sounded good. I temporarily used the exhaust from the 2206. I am fabbing up the muffler setup. It drove under its own power for the first time in a long time. The clutch worked perfectly, with no slippage, noise or chatter. There is no vibration at any RPM. It's as smooth as butter. I ran it for an hour and no oil leaks. I used the throttle cable from the 2206, using the original throttle lever from the 582. I added an oil pressure warning lamp, and modified the outer air cleaner lid to fit the engine properly.

Modified a 782 muffler to mate with the 2206 pipe. Sounds great. I am waiting on heat shields from an 1863 to finish that part off.

The exhaust shields from an 1863 are on. I will remove them to paint them high heat black. I drove it for 30 minutes, and all went well. The new seat is comfortable.

Got rid of the severely dry rotted rear turf tires. The 2206 engine donor tractor had a nice pair of older Carlisle USA made Ag tires in the correct size.

I replaced the dry rotted and leaky front tires and wheels with original repainted wheels and tires from a 1989 1050.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
