Hello,
I have a 1970 147 and am pretty sure my safety switch is no longer working. I have been through several posts now of others having starting issues, as I am. I will be running down the wiring today, but still want to bypass the switch. How exactly does one bypass this switch? Details please, and thanks!

It's inadvisable for safety reasons to do this. But, to understand how the switch works, when you press the clutch pedal down, a spring pushes the switch button in, which, in effect, connects the two wires going to the switch together (closes the circuit). That's all I can say about that.

Just hook the two wires together. I usually make a plug in jumper so, I can keep the wireing harness intact.

I grew up on old tractors so I always consider any tractor locked and loaded. Trans in neutral, brake on, clutch pushed in... no one gets hurt should a safety get shorted or fail to do what is should do.

Primeline makes a safety switch that's an exact match for $10.19. You can get it through Oreilly Autoparts and other places.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
