Some of those petcocks in the bottom of the tank have a screen on them.

Next time, diagnose the problem first and make yer wallet happy
Good thing is you have a lot of spare parts that will last longer than the mower.

Ha! Each time I replaced something, I thought I WAS diagnosing the problem. Started with the gas cap, and worked my way through the fuel system. But, hey, I know I'm good now. Learned a little bit on the process, so it ain't all bad.

Not to talk down to you,
but throwing parts @ something is not a diagnostic procedure.
But we all have to learn sometime, you did, and was kind enough to share with others here so they learned also.
And it is good to have spare parts that are known to be good.

You will be surprised @ the chit you will get out of the tank.
Trust me, the blow back you did on the tank is only a temp fix.
Guaranteed it will plug up again the farthest from the workshop possible Ha,LOL

I hear ya.

For the record, I didn't throw parts at the problem. Spindles, deck belt and blades needed to be replaced. Gas cap was clogged (Gas tank collapsing), so I replaced it. Battery was three years old, and not holding a charge, so I replaced that. While I was doing these things, I thought I should change the oil, spark plugs and fuel filter prior to my first mow of the season. After that, I still had the problem I described.

Days of research and multiple info sources pointed to collapsing fuel lines, ignition coils or carburetor. I replaced the fuel pump and lines first since it was less than $20. Replacing the ignition module was cheaper than the carburetor, so I did try that first. Unsuccessful? Yep. Replaced the carb.

I listed all the new items in my original post as a thorough picture of what had been done recently.

So, now I guess I have some spare it ignition modules and a carb. I'm not going to hang on to a $7, three year old fuel pump.

I did learn I need to check each section of the fuel line separately, though. I only checked the line coming from the fuel pump for fuel flow.

Hopefully this will be helpful to others who are learning as they go.
