[QUOTE=Sugarmaker;106706]
Todd, did you ever solve yours throwing the belt? Chris, mine never threw the belt, the trouble I had was when putting the tiller in the ground. I have it on my 123 and when in solf soil it worked but as I would get into harder soil the tiller would stop moving. I had the belt tensioner tight as a wire, but it still slipped. Someone on OCC mentioned that my pto was most likely slipping on the tractor. So I rebuilt the power take off and it worked fine. It was one of those things, it worked sortof, but not. (lot of sputter, for such an easy question)

Todd,
I need to read, and run my fingers less. Belt slipping! Thanks for the warning! I will keep a Eye on the PTO If I ever get it functional again. Yamaguy, Thanks! This is going to be a close second! For some reason I went out and loosened a few bolts on the tiller today. I will have some pictures of both the tiller coming apart and the thrower going together in a few minutes. Man I hope I can keep the parts separated I have to go get on the other computer. Regards, Chris

Cub123,
You did a awesome job on your tiller! Yea I see it was rusty also but you did a great job on the restoration work! Adding the extensions and sheet metal look real good. Hope mine turns out and works as good. I noted in your post, same as Todd mentioned, that the PTO clutch needs to be in good shape to run one of these tillers. Here are some pictures from today as tiller came apart. I do have all the tin off and most is straightened. Had some severe bends in to portion behind the tiller where the flap attaches. Its all ready to go into the de-rusting tank. I found the rust holes after banging on the body trying to straighten the back edge. Also found two spots that will need some welding. So far this is about right. I did not get into taking the drive case apart yet. Is this chain drive I assume? I put the belt guard in the tank to clean but not much action I may need to recharge the bath? Looks like I may need some heat to loosen and remove the tine assemblies from the drive shaft? I have all the cross pins out. Regards, Chris

Chris sweet score on the tiller! Have you checked to see if it turns freely? As long as it turns freely it will do a great job tilling for you. I love my 1A tiller!

Chris, you're moving right along. Just seems that when I read someones project, the slower mine seems to be going.
Blew out my elbow last night I've got two torn rotator cuffs, now my elbow blew out, what next? Maybe I don't want to know Keep up the good work

Duke,
It turns and is getting more free as I roll it around the garage. My derusting process does not seem to be working as aggressively as before. I may pick up another box of Super Washing Soda tonight and try to re-charge the bath. I have the belt cover in there now. I assume I need to split open the covers of the main drive unit to clean and check whats going on in there too. The tines assemblies are quite rusty and I may tackle getting those apart tonight with some hot wrench help. Regards, Chris

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
