The collectability aside, why would one desire a flail mower such as this?
Seems the blades would not stay sharp for long and would be a major pain to keep all of the sharp. |

They are awesome for orchards, ditches, wild patches between manicured lawns and farm fields, snowmobile/hiking trails...just to name a few. You can change out blades for small saplings.
There is a company out of Finland, Rammy that makes a really nice gas powered one, as does Chapmans UK. The Rammy 120ATV one wouldn't be hard to modify for a garden tractor front. Had my eye on one for a year now. |

Flail mowers are cool. Great for over grown brush. I have a 50" Bush Hog tow behind.

90% of roadside mowers municipalities use are flail mowers. Try catching an old tire someone dumped in a ditch with a big rotary or a brush hog. The tire will fly quite a distance. BTDT.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
